Feelings

Feelings

By Libby Walden & Richard Jones
Published by Caterpillar Books

Inside my heart and in my head... Feelings is the debut picture book from new talents Libby Walden and Richard Jones. It explores the subject of emotions and how they effect children's development from a very young age.

Feelings uses the power of pictures and invites children to embark on a stunning exploration of emotional literacy. Feelings covers everything from being Brave to Anger, as well as more complex emotions such as Loneliness, Embarrassment and Jealousy. Libby Walden's enchanting rhyming text brings each emotion to life and creates a journey to a much happier place.

Richard's illustrations are whimsical and beautifully rendered, with little illustrated boxes popping up on each page, each like a mini work of art. The colours used reflect the emotion of that spread, enforcing the feeling the boy character is feeling.

The book is beautifully presented, with a cut out centre - putting the child at the centre of the story. An important book in this day and age where children are prone to mental health issues more than ever. A brilliant way to help an adult approach the subject and help a child to allow them to openly discuss their feelings.

Feelings is available to buy now from all good bookshops and from the Little Tiger website here.
